Wil D. Marquez — Design / Academia

Interested in the expansion and development of cities and how they are portrayed in American culture, Marquez approaches design and architecture by investigating those forces that lie beyond the profession itself. These interests, coupled with a desire for clarity in his design methodology, moved Marquez to further his research at the University of Michigan where he received his Masters of Architecture. At Michigan he grew an appreciation for the theoretical and social nature of architecture and technology processes. His professional work and academic research on projects and installations in Abu Dhabi, Morocco, Rome, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Detroit, and Flint have engaged him beyond the subject of design and into the disciplines of perception, popular imagery, identity, memory, and culture in architecture and urban design.
