Kwara State Travel Plaza
A2SO4, in conjunction with ECAD Architects, Ltd., designed the master plan for a 90 hectare (222 acre) travel plaza located near Ilorin, in Kwara State, Nigeria. This facility, strategically located midway along the highway that connects Lagos to Kano and next door to the Ilorin International Airport, will provide amenities for the occupants of up to 1,000 trucks, 250 automobiles and 25 long and short range passenger buses.
The Plaza has two separate zones – separated by an existing natural stream – one for trucks with the other for buses and automobiles. In the truck sector there will be driver amenities including restaurants, retail shops, prayer rooms, television rooms, recreational and game rooms, laundry facilities, sleeping rooms and a football field for exercise. Adjacent but within their own zones will be truck fueling stations, truck sales and repair centers, automobile fueling stations, automobile sales and repair centers, emergency towing centers, banking facilities, health clinics, post office, fire rescue station and a police emergency station.
