22 On Delaware

Situated at 22nd and Delaware at the entrance to Fall Creek Place Neighborhood, a 15,000 sf retail center that could potentially house a restaurant, hardware store, and fitness center is being proposed to area residents by the King Park Area Development Corporation. A2SO4 envisioned a retail center that moves beyond becoming a visual gateway icon, to instead reaffirm architecture’s relationship with the street by becoming a critical node and destination for activity and interaction.

The design purposefully breaks away from Victorian and Classicism styles, by simplifying the façade and allowing materials to interact and play, thus revealing new possibilities for urban design typologies. This approach includes elements such as a green roof, local materials, LED lighting, and water discharge— all which can influence the formative nature and intelligence of the overall structure.
